[Lat. descendere; L. Fr. descender.] To pass immediately from one person to another by the operation of law, as to an heir on the death of his ancestor. See Descent. When an estate is said to have descended from A. to B. the natural and obvious meaning of the word is that it is an immediate descent from A. to B. Story, J., 3 Peters' R. 68, 91.
