Lat. A house or dwelling.

Domus tutissimum cuique refugium atque receptaculum sit. A man's house should be his safest refuge and shelter.

This maxim has been adopted in the common law, with a slight change in the phraseology.

Domus sua cuique est tutissimum refugium

To every man his own house is his safest refuge.
