Ex Delicto

Lat. From fault or crime; arising out of, or founded upon misconduct, malfeasance or tort. A term of the civil law, expressive of one of the principal divisions of the grounds of obligations and of actions.

See Ex contractu. As a consequence of crime, or violation of law. Used in this sense in the law of nations. "Contraband goods are seized and condemned ex delicto."
