A New Law Dictionary and Glossary
Lat. (On the behalf of such a one.) In old Englbh practice. The name of a writ which lay for a bailiff or receiver, who, having auditors assigned to hear his account, could not obtain of them reasonable allowance, but was cast into prison by them.
