Forbatudus.
L. Lat [from Sax. fore, before, and Fr. batre, to beat or strike.] In old European law. The first striker; he who struck the first blow, (primus feriens,) or offered the first wrong, {primam inferens injuriam.) A term applied to one who was slain in a quarrel of his own provoking, and by his own fault; as by one upon whom he made an assault; (qui vim aut injuriam alteri inferens, culpA sud occiditur.)
