Forstall, Forestal, Forstal. Sax. [from fore, before, or fare, a way, and stal, or stail, a standing or stopping; L. Lat. forstallare.] To obstruct or stop up a way, (viam praepedire;) to stop the passage of a person or thing on the highway; to intercept on the road. Spelman, voc.
