Lat. [Fr. frere.] A brother. Frater consanguineus; a brother by the father's side.

Frater uterinus; a brother by the mother's side; a uterine brother. Id. Frater nutricius; a bastard brother.

Frater fratri uterino non succedet in hereditate paterna. A brother shall not succeed a uterine brother in the paternal inheritance.
