Friborgh. [L. Lat. friborga, friborgus, from Sax. freo, free, and borh or borfes, a pledge.] In Saxon and old English law. A free pledge, or frankpledge; one of the ancient Saxon names of the tithing or decennary; and also of the individuals who composed it; the chief of whom was called friborgesheofod, or freoborhesheofod, (qq. v.) Spelman, voc.
