Lat. [from ad, to, and Norm. gister, to lie, lay or place.] To adjust, assign, apportion, assess; to assign or apportion cattle, or other animals, to a feeding ground. Unusquisque liber homo agistet boscum suum in foresta pro voluntate sua; every freeman shall agist his wood in the forest at his pleasure. Chart. forest. c.
