Bedell, Beadle, [L. Lat. bedellu Sy Sax. hydel, from bydde, [or beodani] to bid, publish or declare; or, according to Spelman, to ask, beg, pray.] In English law.. A crier, (prteco,) messenger, summoner, apparitor, bailiff, underbaiiiff.
