L.Lat. [Fr. champerti\ In old English statutes. A share or division of land, or other thing; champerty. Nullus minister domini regis manuteneat pladia vel querelas in curia sua, ad campertem inde habendum; No servant of the king shall maintain pleas or plaints in his court, to have champert thereof.
