In the civil law. Security for performance; security in an action; bail. Cautio fldejnssoria: security given by sureties, pledges, or bondsmen. Cautio jnratoria: security given by the oath of the party. Cantio pignoratitia: security given by pledge, or deposit, as plate, money or other goods. Cantio pro expensis: security for costs, v. De cautione admittenda.
