D.C. Code § 980

The statutory maintenance is thus assimilated to alimony, in that it is subject to be modified from time to time or even cut off entirely, in the event of a change in the circumstances of the parties; and it of course ceases wholly upon the death of the husband.

How often courts cite the case defining “statutory maintenance”

19101920194019601980200069

Court decisions citing the opinion that defined “statutory maintenance” — 208 in all, by decade. Counts are citations to the defining case as a whole, not verified uses of the term. The dip in the most recent years is a data-coverage gap, not a real trend — our corpus holds fewer opinions from the latest years.
