Check Book

Defined in 1 dictionary — Bouvier (1914)

Bouvier's Law Dictionary and Concise Encyclopedia

John Bouvier; revised by Francis Rawle · 1914

A book containing blanks for checks. These books are so arranged as to leave a margin, called by merchants a stump, or stubb, when the check is filled out and torn off. Upon these stumps a memorandum is made of the date of the check, the payee, and the amount; and this memorandum, in connection with the evidence of the party under oath, is evidence of the facts there recorded.
