combination or conspiracy

Defined in 1 dictionary — Case Law

Definitions from Case Law

From 374 U.S. 174 - United States v. Singer Manufacturing Co. · 1963Most cited · 618 citing opinions

Whether the conspiracy was achieved by agreement, by tacit understanding, or by 'acquiescence * * * coupled with assistance in effectuating its purpose is immaterial.' The conspiracy arises implicitly from the course of dealing of the parties. Whether an unlawful combination or conspiracy is proved is to be judged by what the parties actually did rather than by the words they used.
