Concerned In

This is a phrase often employed in statutes, contracts, etc., in the sense of having to do with, having part or share in, being engaged in or with, etc. "'Being concerned in' is * * * a colloquial expression, equivalent to 'being engaged in,' or 'taking part in'." 74 Fed. 217. It is sometimes provided in policies of insurance that in case of loss the assured must produce a certificate of the fact from a magistrate not "concerned in" it as a creditor. The phrase has been held to mean a magistrate who has not a personal interest such as to tempt him to state what is not true, not a creditor in a trifling sum not affecting such an interest. 131 Mass. 44. It is sometimes provided by statute that particular nublic officers shall not be "concerned in" the purchase of lands sold for mission as agent for a purchaser. 70 la. 290.
