In equity practice. An order which the court of chancery makes when the defendant does not file an answer, that the plaintiff may take such a decree as the case made by his bill warrants.

pro, /. v. Pro. Confirmare nemo potest prius quam jus ei acciderit, I. No one can confirm [release] a right before it has fallen to him. v. Confirmation. Confirmat usum qui tollit abusum: he viadicates the use of a thing who forbids its abuse. Con&rmatio perfioiens, I. A confirmation which makes good a defeasible estate, or makes a conditional estate absolute. Confirmatio crescens: one which enlarges a rightful estate. Confirmatio diminueas: one which releases part of the services whereby the estate is held. Confirmatio est nulla ubi donum preecedens est invalidum: a confirmation is void where the grant preceding it is void. Confirmatio omnes supplet defectns, licet id quod actum est ab initio non valuit: a confirmation supplies all defects, although the deed was faulty at the beginning.
