Lat. [L. Fr. copie.] A copy. Copia libelli; the copy of a libel. Reg. Orig. 58. Breve de copia libelli deliberanda; a writ to deliver the copy of a libel. Id. ibid. Co. Litt. 57 b. Lord Coke says it is a Latin word made from the Fr. copie, and refers to the writ in the Register to show its antiquity. But from the manner in which it is used by Bracton, it seems rather to be the legitimate Latin word copia, (supra,) applied in a peculiar sense. See Copy.
