In old English law. The king's court; the supreme court of the kingdom, established by the Norman princes. Crah Vs Hist. Eng. Law, 51. Otherwise called curia m>agna, and aula regis. Id, 144. The aula regis, the bancus, (afterwards the common bench,) and the iter or eyre, are all called by Bracton curicB regi Sf the king's courts; though the first of these was so in a peculiar sense, being held before the sovereign in person, {coram ipso rege.)
