In old English law
An apparent, plain, or downright murder. It was used to distinguish a willful murder from chance-medley, or manslaughter. Spelman; Cowell; Blount. See "Homicide." ABESSE (Lat.) In the civil law. To be absent; to be away from a place. Said of a person who was extra eontinentia urbis, beyond the suburbs of the city.
