The Cyclopedic Law Dictionary

A measure of land, of uncertain amount. It was called "arpent," also. Spelman; Cowell. In French Law. A measure of different amount in each of the sixty-four provinces. Guyot, Rep. Univ. "Arpenteur." The measure was adopted in Louisiana.
