or BALLIVA. Equivalent to halivatus. Bolivia, a bailiwick; the jurisdiction of a sheriff; the whole district within which the trust of the sheriff was to be executed.

Occurring in the return of the sheriff, non est inventus in balliva mea, he has not been found in my bailiwick; afterwards abbreviated to the simple non est inventus.
