Four-footed animals
They were anciently divided into "beasts of the plow," — ^those used in husbandry; "beasts of the chase," — ^the buck, doe, fox, marten, and roe; "beasts of the forest," — the hart, hind, hare, boar, and wolf; and "beasts of the warren," — the hare and coney.
