The Cyclopedic Law Dictionary
A charter or deed in writing; any signal or token by which an estate was held. ■ Charta Chyrographata. An indenture. between them in such a manner as to divide the word in the separation of the two parts of the indenture.

Charta Partita
A charter party.
Charta de Una Parte
A deed poll; a deed of one part. Formerly this phrase was used to distinguish a deed poll — which is an agreement made by one party only; that is, only one of the parties does any act which is binding upon him — from a deed inter partes.
