EVAS 10 (Lat.) In old practice. Escape; an escape from prison or custody.

EVASION (Lat. evadere, to avoid). A subtle device to set aside the truth or esfirst, in order that he might have a,n opportunity of returning the blow with impunity. He is, nevertheless, punishable, because he becomes himself the aggressor in such a case. It is not a technical term. Hawk. P. C. c. 31, §§ 24, 25; Bac. Abr. "Fraud" (A), EVENTUS EST QUI EX CAUSA SEQUItur; et dicitur eventus quia ex causis even it. An event in that which follows 'from the cause, and is called an "event" because it eventuates from causes.
