To fine, or pay a fine. Rog. Hov., cited in Cowell. To end or finish a matter. FINIS EST AMICABILIS COMPOSITIO et finalis concordia ex consensu et concordia domini regis vel Justicarium. A fine is an amicable settlement and decisive agreement by consent and agreement of our lord, the king, or his justices. Glanv. lib.
