In civil law
One who acts for another, or transacts another's business. Calv. Lex. GESTUM (Lat.) In Roman law. A thing done; a transaction. Strictly, a thing done vdthout words, and so distinguished' from actum. A distinction was sometimes made between "gestum" and "factum.".. Gains, however, in the Digest (50. 16. 58) pronounces this to be subtile.
