In old English law
A minister of the mint, who made and coined the king's money. There were several of these moniers or workmen; "some to shear the money, some to forge it, others to beat it broad, some to round it, and some to stamp or coin it." Cowell, voc. "Moniers;" "Mmt." A banker; one who dealt in money.
