In maritime law
An entry made by a merchant upon the importation of goods, after the goods have been weighed, measured, or gauged, to make up the deficiency of the original or prime entry. The custom of making such entries has tion is not or may not be able to calculate exactly the duties which he is liable to pay. He therefore makes an approximately correct entry, which he subsequently corrects by the post entry.
