The Cyclopedic Law Dictionary
A conveyance which superseded the old compound assurance by lease and release. It was created by St. 4 & 5 Vict. c. 21, which abolished the lease for a year. STATUTUM (Lat. statuere, to establish). In the Civil Law. Established; determined. A term applied to judicial action.
