The Cyclopedic Law Dictionary
That period of time between the end of one term and beg^inning of another. During vacation, rules and orders are made in such cases as are urgent, by a judge at his chambers. VACATUR (Law Lat. it is vacated).

A rule or order by which a proceeding is vacated; a vacating. VACQUER (L. FV.) To be at leisure.
