——In Conveyances. Persons who receive a voluntary conveyance. It is a general rule of the courts of equity, that they will not assist a mere volunteer who has a defective conveyance. Fonbl. Eq. bk.

Rendition of Services. One who introduces himself into matters which do not concern him, and does, or undertakes to do, something which he is not bound to do or which it is not in pursuance or protection of any interest of the master, and which is undertaken in the absence of any peril requiring him to act as on an emergency.

In Military Law. Persons who, in time of war, voluntarily enlist in the military service. Their rights and duties are prescribed by the municipal laws of the different states, but when in actual service, they are subject to the laws of the United States and the articles of war.
