One performing the functions of a director who has not been lawfully appointed. See 38 W. Va. 351, 18 S. E. fi20. De facto government. One whose existence is maintained by active military power against the authority of a lawful government. See 8 Wall. (U. S.) 1, 19 L. Ed. 361.
