In English law. A was seised of tenements in fee or fee tall at the time of his death, and that he held of the king in chief. DOTE UNDE NIHIl. HABET. Dower unde nihil habet (q. v.) DOTI LEX FAVET; PROEMIUIW PUDORis est, Ideo parcatur. The law favors dower; it is the reward of chastity, therefore let It be preserved. Co. Litt. 31; Branch, Princ.
