In old English law. Double. Duplex querela: a double complaint, or double quarrel; a complaint in the nature of an appeal, made to the archbishop of the province, against an inferior ordinary, for delaying or refusing to do justice in some ecclesiastical cause. Duplex valor maritagii: double the value of the marriage,— a forfeiture by infant wards who married without their guardians' consent.
