5 U.S.C. § 8438 — for the purposes of this section
the term “equity capital” means common and preferred stock, surplus, undivided profits, contingency reserves, and other capital reserves;

The term "equity capital" means—
(A) common or preferred stock or a similar instrument, including subordinated debt with equity features; and
(B) any other type of equity-like financing that might be necessary to facilitate the purposes of this Act, excluding financing such as senior debt or other types of financing that competes with routine loanmaking of commercial lenders.
12 U.S.C. § 24A — in this section
For purposes of this subsection, the term “equity capital” includes, in addition to any equity instrument, any debt instrument issued by a financial subsidiary, if the instrument qualifies as capital of the subsidiary under any Federal or State law, regulation, or interpretation applicable to the subsidiary.
19 U.S.C. § 2345 — under this part
“equity capital” means, with respect to the recipient corporation, the sum of its money and other property (in an amount equal to the adjusted basis of such property but disregarding adjustments made on account of depreciation or amortization made during the period described in paragraph (3)(D)), less the amount of its indebtedness.
