* To put out or quench: to destroy, annihilate; to pay in full, satisfy: as, to extinguish a debt, an estate, a right to rent, a right of way, the rights of a corporation. Extingtushment. Whenever a right, title or interest is destroyed or taken away by the act of God, operation of law, or act of the party. 5 Extinguishing one debt by substituting another is always a question of intention.'
