Anciently, It was the custom in a criminal trial to inquire after a verdict, “Did he fly for it?” After the verdict, even If not guilty, forfeiture of goods followed conviction upon such inquiry. Abolished by 7 & 8 Geo. IV. c. 28. Wharton.
