Frithsocen. Sax. [from frith, peace, and socne, a liberty or franchise.] In Saxon and old English law. A liberty, franchise, or jurisdiction to keep the peace, (tuenda pacis jurisdictio.) According to Fleta, the liberty of having a frankpledge. But to authorize this meaning, the word, according to Spelman, should be written frisocne.
