I. A putting together, or making up; composition or satisfaction; a statute or ordinance. Compositio mensurarum: the ordinance of measures; an ancient ordinance, mentioned in the statute 23 Hen. VIII., c. 4, establishing a standard of measures. Compositio ulnarum et perticarnm: the statute of ells and perches; an English statute establisliing a standard of measures.
