The status of a pauper in England, who cannot be legally removed from the parish or union in which he is receiving reiief, notwithstanding that he has not acquired a settlement tliere. Thus a pauper who has resided in a parish during the whole of the preceding year is Irremovable. Stat. 28 and 29 Viet. c. 79, § 8.
