Two or more persons jointly liable for the same debt. To sustain a suit against joint debtors, a joint and subsisting indebtedness must be shown; Robertson v. Smith, 18 Johns. (N. debtors the debt is merged in the judgment as to all: id. Payment by one Joint debtor who has been discharged in bankruptcy of a sum, less than is due on the joint debt, which the creditor accepts in satisfaction of the whole debt, is held to operate as such in favor of the other debtor; Ex parte Zeigler, 83 S.
