The system of courts of justice in a country. The department of government charged or concerned with the administration of Justice. The judges taken collectively; as, the liberties of the people are secured by a wise and Independent judiciary. The term is in very current use in designating the method of selecting judges in a state or country, — as, an elective judiciary. As an adjective: Of or pertaining to the administration of justice or the courts; judicial,— the judiciary act, the judiciary amendment, the judiciary question, etc. See Court; Judge; 3 Story, Const. 6th ed.
