In old English law. A jury of twelve men sworn. Especially, a jury of the common law, as distinguished from the assisa. The jury clause in a nisi piius record, so called from the emphatic words of the old forms: "Jurata ponitur in respectum," the jury Is put in respite. Townsh. PI. 487. Also a jurat, (which sce.)
