The right of preemption of a landlord in case the tenant wishes to dispose of his rights as a perpetual lessee. Sohm, Inst Rom. L. § 67. Pactum protimeseos was the right of pre-emption to the seller; i. e. in case the buyer should sell, he must sell to the former seller. Hunter, Rom. L. 603.
