I. In the civil law. Adverse; unfavorable; opposite. Adversa fortuna: adverse fortune. Adversa valetudo: adverse or ill health; — excusat: ill health is an excuse. ment or privilege, under a claim of right against the owner of the land out of which the easement is derived. Adverse possession: the possession of lands adversely or in opposition to the title of another; the possession of a person claiming under title or color of title adverse to another who is out of possession.
