In old English law

A seller; a regrater; a retailer; a broker; one who bought as well as sold; or a person who loaned money; an auctioneer, in the modern sense. See Auctioneer. Auctionarii et auctionatrices panis, cervisiae, et aliarum rerum: retailers (male and female) of bread, ale and other things. Auctionarii, quos Angli brokers dicimus: auctioneers, whom we English call brokers.
