A Law Dictionary and Glossary

The joining or uniting of a chattel to the freehold. This is actual, or such as in fact exists; or constructive, or such union as arises from the chattel having been held as part of the realty. In Scots law. The uniting of lands to the crown, and declaring them unalienable; the appropriating of church lands to the crown; the union of lands at a distance from the kirk to the kirk to which they are nearer.
