The physical person; the natural, as distinguished from an artificial, person; the trunk as distinguished from the head and limbs; a number of persons considered collectively; the physical part of a thing. A number of particulars taken together; a systematic collection, as of cases. Body corporate: a corporation. Body of a county, or a state: the county or the state considered in its territorial entirety. Body of an instrument: the substantial or essential portion of an instrument. Body politic: a state, or a municipal corporation; the sovereign power. Body snatching: the secret unauthorized removal of a dead body from the grave.
