I. In the civil law. One who is appointed to take care of any thing for another; one who is appointed to administer the estate of any person who is not legallj' competent to manage it himself. Curator ad hoc: a guardian for this [purpose]: a special guardian. Curator bonis: a guardian or trustee appointed to take care of property in certain cases; as for the benefit of creditors. Curator In (or ad)' litem: a guardian for the purpose of a suit; or one appointed to prosecute or defend a suit for another.
